Ms. Wenger's Biography
I graduated from the University of Maryland with honors. My bachelor's degree was in English Literature and Gender Studies with a minor in Philosophy. After a year studying and teaching English in Israel, I moved to Norway on a Fulbright scholarship. I then earned my Masters in Victorian Literature at the University of Toronto. I speak Hebrew and Norwegian, and I love to read.
I am currently finishing my Masters in Teaching Secondary Social Studies at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. I am also a 2014 fellow of the Charlotte Teacher's Institute, attending weekly seminars on human agency and constructing a curriculum unit that will be published by the Yale Teacher's Institute. Last year I won the Carolina's Place Celebrate Teacher's award. In my free time, I teach Sunday School and tutor immigrants at the International House. I am also training for my first half-marathon in February.
More than anything, I love to teach. I am particularly excited about psychology because of the direct relevance it has for students. I hope that every student finds something in the class that directly speaks to their experience and helps them make choices about their education and its impact on their future.
